Now that I had to buy a kickboard (the college pool is open, but we can't use shared ones), I thought I'd go for something ergonomic. I've been using it about a week now (maybe three pool visits) and it seems to be very comfortable. I also use it while kicking on my back with it down over my mid-section, so the elbows are in the same position as when going forward. Please let me know if you've tried that and post some videos! And my backpack has a strap I can hook it to thanks to the handle at the top. Great idea!
