I recently purchased the Apex. I was extremely skeptical and in fact it took me two years to finally pull the trigger. After having ridden it for 75 miles it has exceeded all my expectations! My main point of skepticism was due to ignorance, every video I watched showed the person pedaling and to me that defeated the purpose. I had the assumption that the rider in the video was most likely a professional in tip top shape. I am 59, in good shape for my age. The mountains here in central Pa are fairly steep and although I have no problem walking them, it takes me several hours to check trail cameras. What used to take me 2 1/2 hours, now takes 45 minutes. I have not encountered a trail that I couldn't climb. Pedaling activates the motor, thus the reason you have to pedal, but with the wide range of gears and motor settings, you make it as easy or as hard as you want.
